STARS

Smart, Talented, Athletic, Responsible, Students (STARS) is an after school program at Frelinghuysen Middle School in Morristown, New Jersey.  STARS is open from 2:20pm until 5:30pm during all full days of the school year.  New Jersey After 3, inc. is a statewide initiative and is the primary funding source for STARS.

STARS goal is to help improve 160 Frelinghuysen Middle School students' academic performance and prepare them for their next developmental stage.  Services include: general homework/academic sessions for all students for one hour daily; targeted instruction for poor performing students based on their needs; bilingual staff for English Language Learners; recreation time; and a large variety of enrichment activities for all students.  The students choose from activities including: cooking, arts and crafts, music, sports, writing, youth development, and cultural exploration.
